Assignment: Negative Space and Perspective
Specifications
- Assignment 1: Simple Design Drawing--Print out a copy of the simple design attachment. Watch the Simple Design Video about using plumb lines, measuring, and finding negative spaces with a pencil. Then draw the design using the principles shown in the video and step by step instructions.
- Assignment 2: Vase Drawing--Print out a copy of the vase attachment. Watch the video about using plumb lines, measuring, and finding negative spaces with a pencil. Then draw the vase using the principles shown in the video and step by step instructions. Draw plumb lines on your printed copy of the vase using a red pencil or pen, like you see in the "drawing a vase" page. When you post your Assignment 2 drawing, you will also include this print-out with red lines.
- Assignment 3: Cube Drawing--Print out a copy of the cube attachment. Watch the video, reviewing the principles learned above and using perspective. Then draw the cube using the principles shown in the video and step by step instructions. Draw plumb lines on your printed copy of the cube using a red pencil or pen, like you see in the "looking for position and angle" page. When you post your Assignment 3 drawing, you will also include this print-out with red lines.
- Assignment 4: Complex Grouping--Print out a copy of the complex grouping attachment. Draw it using the principles that you have learned in this lesson.

Post your completed drawings for assignments 1-3 by Thursday at 11:59 PM: Scan in and submit your drawings along with the PDF printouts with your red lines on it to the discussion board.
Provide feedback by Friday at 11:59 PM: Provide feedback to members of the class. I will be providing feedback, but I’d like you to offer feedback also. In your feedback answer the following questions:
